Risk Management

Risk management in the loan decision-making process involves considerations of political, social, economic and engineering factors with relevant risk assessments relating to a potential hazard so as to develop, analyze and compare regulatory options and to select the optimal regulatory response for safety from a particular hazard. Essentially risk management is the combination of three steps: risk evaluation; emission and exposure control; and risk monitoring. It includes risk analysis, cost benefit analysis, selection, implementation and testing, security evaluation of safeguards and overall security review.

You need a deliberate risk management process of understanding risk and deciding upon and implementing actions to reduce risk to a defined level. Characterized by identifying, measuring, and controlling risks to a level commensurate with an assigned value. The identification, assessment, and mitigation of probabilistic security events (risk management) in information systems to a level commensurate with the value of the assets protected is critical.

Risk management involves analyzing all exposures to the possibility of loss and determining how to handle these exposures through such practices as avoiding the risk, reducing the risk, containing the risk, or transferring the risk by utilizing information technology like Web Equity Manager®.

We recently released our risk management and performance measuring feature of Web Equity Manager® called DataMgr. The risk management similarities between the Windows DataMgr and this DataMgr end with the name.

  • DataMgr risk management works from a centralized environment on one computer (usually a Web Server). The Windows DataMgr needed to be installed on a per computer basis - making any centralized library system cumbersome to work with.

  • DataMgr allows risk management on both Ultra and Fast Track customer records. You can query JUST your agriculture loan data, JUST your small business/commercial loan data, JUST your consumer loan data or any combination of all your customer loan data. Windows DataMgr did not offer these capabilities.

  • With DataMgr risk management you have the ability to track financial ratios/indicators on loans that have been approved or denied. That is, you can look at the financial condition of new loans going on the books and the financial position of loans that don't have a chance. Add to that the ability to monitor loan volumes per industry or SIC code and you've got an exceptional risk management and performance monitoring tool.

  • With DataMgr risk management you can micro-down your queries by selecting from over 1,600 data fields. Cull data from the entire portfolio or only specific segments of the portfolio to determine profitability, risk assessment or to identify marketing opportunities.

  • With DataMgr risk management you can view the results of your queries in user-defined reports, that is, you design the reports to display the data in the order you want it to display and control font sizes and colors to display the reports in a clear, concise manner that is easy to read.

  • Additionally, you can export the DataMgr risk management data to an Excel spreadsheet for  enhanced "slice/dice" capability and you can get a visual representation of the data using charts and graphs.

  • DataMgr risk management provides the ability to slice/dice your entire portfolio during the work day without disrupting the line speed for the rest of your users by using a recent copy of your customer database.

Web Equity Manager® calculates a complete financial analysis on any loan type, from the simplest loan requests to the most complex agricultural and related small business credits utilizing the Farm Financial Standards Ratios and RMA Industry Comparisons. Credit bureau reports can be pulled from within the Web Equity Manager® system and lenders can include that information in their scoring and rating parameters. Web Equity Manager® also provides the Fair, Isaac LiquidCredit® analytic and decisioning service for small business lending, including the industry-leading Small Business Scoring ModelsSM (SBSSSM) functionality so lenders can quickly and confidently process loans up to $250,000 with little or no financial data.
